Reimagining the Appliance Experience: The Miele Virtual Home
Miele has always been at the forefront of innovation, committed to delivering exceptional quality and state-of-the-art appliances. With the new generation of online buyers, Miele Canada faced a challenge: how to engage a growing demographic of digital customers and sell high-ticket items online. The idea was ambitious yet simple—create a virtual experience so immersive that customers would feel as if they were walking through their own homes, fully equipped with Miele’s finest products.

Partnership
In pursuit of this vision, Miele teamed up with 360Pros, known for their expertise in crafting high-quality 3D, 360 virtual tour, and VR content. Together, they embarked on a journey to create the Miele Virtual Home, a project that would redefine online appliance shopping and set new standards in virtual marketing.

Creation
Past projects with Miele revealed the limitations of traditional showrooms—accessing brand new products, staging quick swaps, and comparing all available appliances instantly were impossible. But in the virtual world, these possibilities became realities.
Interactive animations brought the appliances to life, allowing customers to see ovens opening with fresh meals, dishwashers starting, and vacuum cleaners showcasing their modular setups. The virtual tour featured a custom-designed user interface, with interactive buttons and seamless navigation options. Customers could explore products by walking through the tour, using a search function, or accessing a 3D floor plan.

The vision was to design a realistic home environment where customers could explore 23 different Miele appliances in their natural settings. This involved 3D modeling the main floor of a conceptual home and integrating each appliance with meticulous attention to detail. Engineer-grade CAD models were used to ensure that every appliance was accurately represented, both inside and out.
Overcoming Obstacles
Recreating Miele’s appliances with complete accuracy was imperative. While Miele’s engineering team was in the process of creating high fidelity 3D CAD designs, that took time. We couldn't just show 5 or 6 products, we needed to stage an entire home. And like with any conceptual project, Miele had to balance their limited time and resources with many other priorities. That's why the 360Pros team took it upon themselves to learn every key product displayed in the virtual home, visiting Miele product reps in showrooms (thank you Billy!), getting personal demonstrations, watching videos and reading product reviews and information online.

Inspirational Elements:
With Miele’s growing digital audience, the team asked themselves, "What if we could sell large ticket items online at scale?" Having already proven that customers were willing to buy appliances through their previous virtualized Miele Experience Centre showroom 360 tour, they were inspired to create a full experience dedicated to virtual selling.
Unveiling
After months of dedicated work, the Miele Virtual Home was finally unveiled. The initial reactions were overwhelmingly positive. Real estate project leads expressed eagerness to include virtual homes in their client deliverables as marketing collateral to help pre-sell high-rise condos. Business development managers were excited to show prospects how Miele products could enhance their new or renovated homes.

ROI Potential
The development and design of the Miele Virtual Home also paved the path for cost savings for future versions tailored to different Miele markets internationally. With the framework in place, subsequent versions wouldn’t have to start from scratch, thus saving Miele time and money.
Customer Experience
The virtual tour’s interactive elements, combined with a voice-over introduction from Miele Canada’s VP of Marketing, provided a seamless and informative user experience. Users could see appliances in action, compare different models, and even visualize how various design elements might look in their own homes.

The Future
The success of the Miele Virtual Home opens up exciting possibilities for future innovations. 360Pros is already working with Miele to test and implement an OpenAI-based chatbot on their website. Looking ahead, concepts like Miele Mixed Reality with Multimodal AI could revolutionize customer interactions. Imagine a headset that measures a kitchen or room, combined with voice prompts, to present the best Miele kitchen options overlayed in the real world.
This technology could enhance in-store experiences, provide modular setups for events, and eventually be accessible directly to consumers at home. The vision for a fully immersive Miele Virtual Home is just beginning, with endless possibilities on the horizon.
