Overview

Mt Seymour Ski Resort is a beloved winter destination on Vancouver’s North Shore, known for its welcoming atmosphere and varied terrain suited to both newcomers and seasoned winter sports enthusiasts. To help prospective visitors better understand the mountain before arriving, Mt Seymour sought an innovative solution that could showcase the resort in an engaging and accessible way.

Working closely with Mt Seymour, our team at 360Pros developed an interactive 3D virtual tour called Mt Seymour SkyView, combining aerial panoramas and embedded video to create a fully immersive online experience.

Challenge

Prior to this project, many prospective guests—especially those trying winter sports for the first time—found it difficult to picture Mt Seymour’s layout. They wondered how steep certain runs were, where family-friendly activities were located, and which areas offered the best vantage points. Additionally, Mt Seymour needed a platform robust enough to grow with the resort, allowing for straightforward updates whenever new features, expansions, or amenities were added. Ensuring the tool would be easily accessible to a broad audience—across varying skill levels and devices—posed a significant design challenge.

Solution

To address these needs, we developed Mt Seymour SkyView as an intuitive, web-based interface that mirrors the functionality of a modern website. Visitors can click or tap through an aerial map of the resort, moving seamlessly from one vantage point to another in three dimensions. By integrating video clips of skiers and snowboarders directly into the interface, we offer a realistic preview of each run’s terrain and difficulty. The tour also highlights other fun winter activities such as tubing, tobogganing, and snowshoeing, giving families and first-time guests a clear sense of what to expect. Optimized for both desktop and mobile devices, Mt Seymour SkyView ensures easy access at home or on the go, while the system’s modular design makes it simple to update imagery or even implement virtual reality capabilities in the future.

Results

The launch of Mt Seymour SkyView proved to be a game-changer, significantly enhancing guest confidence by delivering a clear, immersive portrayal of the resort. Because users can explore the mountain virtually, first-timers feel more at ease planning their ski days, and returning guests can discover new spots they might have missed on previous visits. As a result, overall interest in Mt Seymour’s diverse offerings—from beginners’ areas to advanced runs—has grown, while questions regarding directions, difficulty levels, and available amenities have decreased. In the long run, this immersive tour also provides an adaptable marketing platform that the resort’s team can update to keep pace with changing seasons, expanding features, and the evolving digital landscape.
