Elevating Campus Visibility: Mulgrave School’s Virtual Tour Makeover
Mulgrave School, an independent, gender-inclusive, and secular International Baccalaureate institution in West Vancouver, British Columbia, has long focused on personalized learning to help students in pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 excel academically and thrive in life. Like many schools, Mulgrave has witnessed shifts in international and out-of-province enrollment. Yet, as other institutions saw declines, Mulgrave experienced an uptick in applications from across Canada and around the world. School administrators attribute this success partly to an ambitious decision to upgrade their virtual tour—an online resource essential for drawing in prospective students who cannot visit the campus in person.
Recognizing a Need for Change
Although Mulgrave already had a virtual tour, it was produced by a previous vendor and had remained largely the same for years. Administrators initially believed it worked well enough and saw little reason to reimagine it. Then, they happened upon a 360° tour of another school created by 360Pros. Impressed by its immersive quality, Mulgrave’s leadership saw an opportunity to transform their own virtual campus experience into something equally captivating—and more aligned with the school’s distinctive culture and modern learning environment.
Teaming Up with 360Pros
Upon deciding to enlist 360Pros for this revamp, Mulgrave specified that the upgraded tour should capture not just buildings and grounds, but also the vibrant energy of student life. The goal was to convey the school’s sense of community, the richness of its academic programs, and the range of extracurriculars available—from sports events and clubs to arts initiatives. 360Pros Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Boris Maganic, offered numerous ideas on how best to integrate cinematic camera work, aerial drone perspectives, and interactive storytelling elements.
Bringing the Vision to Life
Planning sessions between Mulgrave administrators and 360Pros zeroed in on each element that would be most appealing to prospective families: state-of-the-art facilities, engaged students and teachers, and unique extracurricular activities. Once the roadmap was established, 360Pros captured footage using a combination of ground-based cameras, tripods, hand-held rigs, and drones. The real magic then took place in post-production, where each scene was edited and integrated into a seamless 360° environment. Knowing that some virtual tour viewers might have limited technical skills, 360Pros built the interface to be intuitive, with simple navigation tools that let users explore at their own pace.
A Wider Reach and a Deeper Impression
The finished tour exceeded the school’s expectations, highlighting everything from tranquil outdoor areas to dynamic classroom environments and spirited sports venues. Families worldwide could now virtually “step onto campus” and get a visceral sense of what a day at Mulgrave is like, without leaving their homes. By making the digital experience user-friendly and visually striking, the upgrade proved instrumental in boosting international interest and attracting out-of-province applicants—ultimately supporting the school’s mission to cultivate global learners.
A Continuing Partnership
So impressed were Mulgrave’s administrators with the results that they tasked 360Pros with another project: capturing a virtual walk-through and aerial view of the new Athletics and Performing Arts Centre. This expansion of their virtual storytelling further demonstrates Mulgrave’s commitment to innovation and to providing an all-encompassing window into school life for families near and far.
In Their Own Words
“Working with 360Pros was just so easy. The way they presented our various storytelling options made sense to us and we were able to make good decisions as a result. The team was incredibly responsive to our needs and worked within our budget. We couldn’t have been happier.”
– Elizabeth Calderon, Assistant Head of School and Development, Mulgrave School
